"Can I do this well?" This is a feeling everyone naturally encounters before any endeavor. You might not do as well as you thought, or you might disappoint people around you by falling short of expectations. Conversely, you might approach something without much thought and achieve unexpectedly good results. Regardless of the outcome, how we accept it is up to each individual. It's sad to see someone dejected and discouraged by every result, but an attitude of accepting things too indifferently is also problematic. What teenagers here and now need is a healthy attitude of looking forward to another tomorrow, another D-Day.
