Today Is My Birthday

The twelfth spring arrives, as it always does—
A poetry picture book blessing the lives of all children,
from poet Jin Eunyoung and picture book artist Lee Suzy Two creators, each remembering the children in their own way since the Sewol ferry disaster, came together. Beside Jin Eunyoung's poem, written for a child who never reached their seventeenth birthday, Lee Suzy placed her illustrations—images she had been quietly gathering of children's receding figures, glimpsed in passing since the tragedy. After a farewell that came far too soon, more than a decade later, this poetry picture book embraces us—now a "great family of grief"—with arms grown ever wider, and blesses the lives of every child in the world.
